"It's getting to the point where I'm no fun anymore" --Crosby, Stills, Nash and sometimes Young

I've been stressed about work lately which means I wake up in a panic a few times a night. This means evenings look something like this...

without the lilting piano music. It's all I can do to stay awake much less be any fun anymore. I sit, googly-eyed, grateful for the comforting touch of the Hubs...

It's not pretty.

I'm feeling the need to do something to get me out of my rut. Maybe join a kickball league. You know, something to get my bad ass moving again and tire me out enough so maybe I'll sleep better. Or at least be a more toned corpse. I need a little play in my life.

Questions du jour: Does anyone as decrepit as me join kickball leagues? If I started a team, would any of you locals be interested in joining in? Have I lost my mind? And, finally, what do you do when you're feeling a need for play?

I haven't been here to visit in a few weeks and then, BAM, more monkeys.

Somethings never change.

But I bet they would make for a great kickball team.

I found this in the rules at http://www.kickball.com/

7.04 Teams must have at least four (4) men and four (4) women present and ready to play...

I don't know what kind of game this is but count me in.

There are kickball leagues? For adults? I guess I don't get out much. Kickball was the main playground sport when I was in elementary school. I wasn't very good though partly because my feet were on the small side relative to my height.

My impression is that kickball around the DC area is for 20 somethings and each team has a few players who are way too competitive. Of course, this is written by a 30-something that hasn't played kickball around here (or anywhere else since I was a camp counselor).

P.S. I hope your work stress goes away, with or without the kickball.

I hate kickball. I sucked at it when I was younger and now when I see the kickballers out and about I always want to kick them. But of course I'd still like YOU if you decided to play.

Kickball is so five years ago. It's all bocce ball these days.

Now I'm going to need some pliers and a set of 30-weight bocce balls..,

Funny I got a call from a friend today asking to hang out and I rambled for a good minute about much I've aged this summer because "I wake up, go to work, get all frazzled at work and then when I go home, I'm left with no energy so I sleep." Mrrrrfffff.

I've never been very good at kickball so I've never liked it but if you like it, that would be great! My way of "playing" badminton. I'm a nerd but it's fun.

If you'd like, you can blame the space weather for your current state of being. Way too much energy floating around.

Or you could blame your work situation. That's cool, too.

Things will begin to calm down soon. Sweet dreams!

I love paddling around the Tidal Basin in those little boats, but kickball -- not so much. I hope you can start leaving work at the office. Life's too short to let it ruin a good night's sleep.

Narm: Yeah, monkeys, lemurs, ...pretty much interchangeable.

Mike: Okay, the first game is a week from Tuesday. You better leave now if you're going to make it.

froggy: I dance like Elaine Benis. Even alone, I can't stand it.

Cyndy: Multiple leagues in fact.

Sean: You may be exactly right.

Cyndy: P.S. Thanks and me, too!

Lemon Gloria, suicide-blond: Aw, thanks. I'm feelin' the love.

Jamie: Bocce sounds about as athletic as curling but without the sweet outfits.

Felisa: The hubs and I do a bit of badminton volleying in the front yard. It's fun!

Reya Mellicker: Why would I want to blame something beyond my control?

Barbara: Well, you and everyone else have convinced me that kickball is NOT the way to go.

That lemur video is SO cute! Thank you for sharing! :)

When I want to play, I just chase my dog and cats around, which they love. Otherwise, going for a jog can do the trick.:)
