"How can I explain when there are few words I can choose" --Erasure

Well, it is November 30th. The end of NaBloPoMo. And we've been through 30 posts in 30 days together. Freaky.

I pondered how to end this. What would continue the thrust of this month? How could I nail the right sentiment on such an auspicious occasion? I searched long and hard for the right tone. Something that expressed the right depth and feeling.

Here's what I found:

Hope I'm not over-intellectualizing.

P.S. Want more? Try "unfortunate place names".

P.P.S. h/t to Tewkesbury for her recent related post.

P.P.P.S. Thanks for your encouragement along the NaBloPoMo way. I'm totally naming my first born after you. Or eating a Hershey's Kiss (with Almond!) in your honor. One or the other. Definitely.

  4. Congratulations! I would have made it, too, had I not missed the family reunion weekend days. Drat! I shall just have to live vicariously through your success. Gilahi and I will raise a glass to you when we meet later this afternoon to solve the world's problems.

  9. I just set off fireworks in your honor!

Which means the fact that I'm reading blogs at work is made irrelevant by the fact that I set off pyrotechnics in the office.

  10. Did anyone mention NaBloPoYr starts Jan 1?

  11. Congrats on NaBloPoMo!

The Wetwang sign reminds me of a good friend - really! The old Wang Laboratories had their headquarters just off the highway in Lowell, Massachusetts. There were three connected buildings that people referred to as the Wang towers, and at the top of each tower was a big sign that said "WANG." Without fail during our high school and college years, every time we drove by those towers, my friend would say, "now there's a couple of big wangs!" It was so corny and stupid, but I still can't drive by those buildings without thinking about him and laughing to myself.

  14. OMG. That is priceless!

The next time I drive to Basel, I'm stopping at Wankdorf and snapping a picture. I wonder if Wetwang is the sister city of Wankdorf? Hm....

P.S. Word ver: prigolo! What are the chances?!?! Hahahahaha!!! Oh.

  15. I'm gonna pass on Wetwang, but I'll be back to visit you in any case. Congrats on making it all the way. My closing ceremonies won't be until later after I knock out my kids.

  19. This could be funnier, although less sexual, if the town were called "Wetwillie". I wonder what the folks who named Wetwang, like the town fathers of French Lick, Ind., had any second thoughts?

Kate: Thanks! You know, I could picture you as a Daisy, although I really, REALLY like the name Kate. Reminds me of Taming of the Shrew and how strong-willed Kate was. :)
